If someone would just give me nothing else to do, my life would be complete.
Friday marked the beginning of a really exhaustive weekend. The week before was already tiring since I had my fungus profile presentation on Wednesday. Anyhow, Friday was occupied with watching Ryan build his new computer. It’s so pretty and all decked out. We listened to music, sang songs, Hyoung took lots of pictures (I am making a separate post on this… stay tuned for LOADS of pictures) and it was just an all-round good time. In the end, the computer didn’t run when he first turned it on, so he left it for the night and said he’d get back to it the next day.
Later (10:15) that night, Ben, Heather, Ryan, Sarah and I went to see Sucker Punch in VIP at Westmount Theatres. My opinion on Sucker Punch? Um… visually stunning! Kick ass soundtrack! Interesting implementation of imagination and dream levels… no Inception though…
On Saturday, Ryan got up early, reconfigured the whole thing and *beep* it was alive! Then we all got ready for Relay for Life - performance and the 12-hour epicness. The performance went well. The actual relay was filled with so many emotions. Good ones, ones of remembrance, and empowering ones. Kevin, Ben and Rob were especially good sports about it. I don’t think they took much of a break and shouldered the bass drum for most of the night. Some of the girls took turns carrying it… I think I had it for about 45 minutes. It was an awesome night though, loud music, endless singing, etc. etc.
The next morning, we went for breakfast at Richie’s. ^^ Yay greasy breakfast!
Then I went home and napped for an hour, and showered, then Julie arrived to lend the band her car for us to do a Retirement Home performance. The performance was good and mingling with the residents was nice. They were very interested about us, and we showed them our shakos and stuff like that.
Our car was the first one back to the band room…. =]
Then at night, I played some Starcraft II with Juwan, Ryan and Simon. I suck… need to play lots and lots and lots.
- lots of Friday (Friday, Friday…) was occupied with me running around London, first to Metro to grab snacks, then to school to watch the OUA Badminton Tournament - Western won that! w00t! I miss the competition scene so much - got to drive Danusha’s car around to run errands and stuff, hung out with Mark and Atkins. McDonald’s and such. - after 8, the parking lot attendant wasn’t there anymore so I had Mark get out and lift the bar so I could get in… circa last year when I did the same thing for Steve haha - Christine ran a sick Montreal pre-game: Minute-to-Win-It themed and it was pretty fantastic… lots of Friday happened haha - after that, we loaded the bus, then then had to do a bit of running around since we had to swap busses, and other things, then we were on our way
Day 2 - most peaceful, sober bus ride to Montreal ever lol - some drinking did occur, but I think most of us were way too pooped to want to do anything, so after our drinks and watching How To Train Your Dragon, most of us fell asleep - we were on the road starting a little before 1… and arrived in Montreal at 8… holy crap Dave is awesome - unpacked all of our stuff into the conference room at the hotel and then we went to Cora’s - after that was some shopping (I didn’t get anything, and there were epic chucks, but none in any of the sizes that hit Heather or me) Ben got some epic good-guy/bad-guy DC ones - back to the hotel, played some card games with Evan, Steff, Heather and then got ready for dinner - most of dinner was a fail, so Heather and I broke off and went to sushi! - fail of a waitress there… she asked me to put down more money because I didn’t tip enough, so I waited for Heather to come back and we got out of there. Food was pretty good though - back to the hotel, lounged around, Heather wasn’t feeling too good so she couldn’t sober monitor the bar, and I stayed to watch her, and Melanie offered to cover - around 9, headed over to Ryan’s room and like 8 of us were there predrinking. Holy crap 6 shots in an hour. They didn’t hit me right away… but… foreshadowingggg… - They left for the club at 10, which is around the time Elizabeth got back, I went back to check on Heather and she was sleeping pretty soundly, so I let her know I was next door and I’d be there if she needed anything - Evan and Julie didn’t head to the club either, so the three of us headed to Elizabeth and Scott’s and played some Kings… okay… 6 shots starts to hit me hard haha - by the end of that, I think I had another 3 shots mixed into some Sprite
Here is a summary of that: - Kings - pelvic thrusts, animal noises and little men - Evan is a really good question master - after two games of Kings, people started coming back from the club, and we had like a group of 10 in the room and we started some Never Have I Ever.. don’t remember much of that… except halfway in, I thought my face felt numb and I told Evan to slap me… haha - 1:30 hit and I said that we should all probably head to bed, I got up, and then I forgot the rest of it
Day 3 - in the morning, I was told that I helped Steff back into the room, and apparently I spent like an hour in the bathroom, I don’t remember puking… - I woke up with my deck of cards all over the floor and in the bed, the box for them were still in Elizabeth’s room - I went to the bathroom and I found out I was still drunk because I couldn’t sit down on the toilet properly (don’t worry, I managed in the end) - packing, loading the bus and getting ready for the parade all went well - did the parade half drunk
Parade: - the crowd was SO fantastic this year - before the parade, one of the organizers came over and talked to me, pretty cool - we played Home For A Rest and Don’t Stop Believing 3 times and everything else once… wish we played Bad Romance more.. that crowd would’ve eaten it up. - also, damn Don’t Stop Believing! French Horn, Bass soli -_-“ - I’ll be looking at flickr over the next couple of days and then I’ll upload them to facebook after that. I’ve found 2 pictures so far (Tiffany and Chevy)
Bus ride home: - pretty good. watched movies, sang some George Michaels ;) - ate way too much junk
Up until about grade 8, my brother and I would go out into the snow and have a snowball fight once a year. He always threw a snowball at my face and I’d always run into the house crying. We stopped that tradition because I didn’t feel like crying anymore.
Can anyone give me some ideas for having a more exciting life? Mine has somehow degraded to a crawl over the past week or two. Days of blending into the nights and the nights are blending into days. On Monday, I spent 3 hours cleaning the house for fun… and by cleaning, I mean a full-out house blast. My back hurt for two days though, so I guess I paid for it.
In band news, I’ve been persuaded to go to Montreal. After the bottle drive on Sunday, I was sitting on the couch, when Andree came up to me and said that all I needed to do was say “yes” to going to Montreal and it’d be taken care of. This was followed by about a third of the band chiming in and saying that I had to go. “It’s your last year!” “It won’t be the same without you.” “Come ooooonnn.”
To make a long story short, my Montreal trip is all paid for and things are settling. Apparently Val’s recital is that weekend and that’s also the badminton tournament for Ontario universities so I’ll miss Danusha coming to Western too. Aw poo.
[I just won a free coffee! Whoo Timmies!]
I’m excited though, I think this Montreal trip will be different from the previous ones I’ve been on. I’ll make a post about the trip afterward for sure.
In gaming news, I started playing Mass Effect on the 360 since my computer is too slow to run the game smoothly, otherwise it’d be a much better interface for the PC. I’m not really a fan of the fighting gameplay, but Ryan says it’ll get better, and it’s really improved in the sequel, so I’ll give it some more time. I’m really interested in the story, so maybe that alone will get me to play it some more.
Halo: Reach has pretty much consumed most of my xbox life right now.. I actually made Lt. Colonel this week! To put it in perspective, it’s what hyoung, Mark and Ryan were a little over a month ago. I’m catching up!
At night, I’ve gotten into the habit of being on my DS until I get tired enough to fall asleep. Sometimes it takes half an hour… sometimes it takes 3 hours. I play Phoenix Wright 2 on most nights.. if that bores me, I play music games that I can turn off whenever I want.
But like I always say, too many games… too little time.
Somehow the topic always goes back to gaming… school! School is going well. I got all my marks back from the hellish midterm week before reading week. I did well, so that makes me feel pretty good.
Danusha’s dad is actually looking to hire a secretary for the summer, so I sent him my resume… I hope I get it, pretty stoked for a secretarial position. After that, it’ll be college for Police Foundations. The most exciting part about being home again is that I get to redo my entire bedroom. The bed, dressers, desks, everything will be moved around and reconfigured. I’m hoping to have a job while going through college too… a) money and b) I’ll be out of the house and not around my parents. I will probably live for the weekends when Kenneth visits home too. Good thing that we recently got a second car, so I can go out whenever I need a breather.
How’s everyone liking this months art? They take, on average, an hour and a half a piece to draw, and I try to make them nice and like what the thing actually is. A lot of you guys correctly guessed the book and movie ones, today’s is favourite TV show, but I won’t have that up until close to midnight since I have class till 10.
Okay… I’m rambling now. We’ll save the rest of what I want to talk about next time.
Someone hasn’t been keeping up with their daily bloggingggg… *raiseshandsheepishly*
I haven’t been near a computer all weekend, or have had time to draw. I’m actually in a GenLab on campus right now waiting for class to start. Daily blogging will resume this afternoon. I’m catching up on some laundry, dishes and blogging this afternoon, so hopefully I’ll be done everything by the time I go to band tonight. I’m also thinking about fitting some Halo in there tonight… hehehe
