Anime North - this picture makes me so happy. #KH (Taken with instagram)
When I went on this weightloss/lifestyle change journey late last year, I didn’t really think the entire process through to the end. Not that I’m not going to see it to the end, but I always took it as a, “let’s deal with different things as I get there,” type of situation. Well, I’m at 30 lbs later and the goal is really starting to look possible. I’ve got 4 months until September when I move back to London and I’d really like to make more changes before I’m back.
I’ve been thinking that I’d like to reward myself in some way, you know, other than being healthy and not obese =s and I’ve got it! A tattoo. I’ve always wanted one (some) and I think this would be a good note to start on. Celebrating a goal that’s taken me almost a year to complete. I won’t be getting this until it’s complete though, and stays complete. I won’t be jumping on the opportunity. I’ve got 20-25 lbs to go and I’m going to be able to finish.
The thing I’m not sure about is whether or not it should be reflective of my triumph though. I mean, sure it’ll be significant, but what would I want on myself that symbolizes that… more to ponder. There IS something that I know I want though, and the sooner I get it, the happier I’ll be about the idea. I’ve been thinking about this for over 5 years now and it hasn’t changed. I want to get a Keyblade on the inside of my left forearm, and then have the chain from the end of the sword wrap around the back of my wrist with the Mickey symbol finishing on the side of the wrist that my pinky’s on.
Ideally, it would go from my wrist to about 1.5 inches below my elbow.. and I’m not sure if I’d like it BW or coloured yet.
The keyblade’s significant in so many ways.. most of which are probably really obvious. Kingdom Hearts, an amazing mashup of Japanese animation, RPGs and characters, Disney.. the epitome of my childhood, and video games. It’s also the first video game I ever beat…
I have a couple more ideas for ink (which I don’t want to talk about yet), and there are some piercings I want to get but never really had to courage to talk about =s Who knows, maybe this is the start of something. Right now, I just know I really want that.
What do you guys think?
Day 29 - A game I didn’t think I’d like, but ended up Loving
Who knew, right? By the time Halo 3 was released in 2007, I thought that Bungie was just trying really hard to milk the series, but I found Halo: Reach to be surprisingly refreshing. I never really paid much attention to the campaign for this series, but the multiplayer for this game has been really fun. This is the first game where I’ve actually worked hard to get my ranking.
Ryan, hyoung and Mark play all the time, and I used to join them from time to time. Soon enough, I got really tired of bringing the team down so I decided to practice, and I started playing hours at a time. I can say that I’m pretty decent now, almost good!
Day 30 - Favourite Game of All Time
This is the first game I ever completed. *sigh… I have so much love for this game… =] Probably the reason why I’m such a JRPG fan girl to this day.
…and that concludes 30 Days of Gaming! Thanks a lot if you’ve been reading this and I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. It was really nostalgic at some points along the way. Stay tuned tomorrow for the announcement of February’s topic!
Kingdom Hearts II
Spanning 6 titles, with at least 2 more along the way, Kingdom Hearts has a story that’s got me hooked and wanting more. It involves a boy named Sora who’s been chosen by the Keyblade to battle Organization XIII and the heartless in order to restore the world back to its normal state. There are the heartless and there are the nobodies. The heartless are creatures whose hearts have become consumed by darkness and the nobodies are the shells of the person that’s been left behind. Nobodies are generally more intelligent and well organized than the heartless. The stronger the original heart that was consumed, the stronger their nobody is.
Organization XIII are the strongest of the nobodies and they govern how the nobodies will act. Their ultimate goal is to use the Keyblade to collect as many hearts as possible so that they may acquire them and become whole once more. These collected hearts become Kingdom Hearts. So when Sora comes along with the ability to wield the Keyblade, (think of the Keyblade like the Sword in the Stone… it chooses who is worthy) Organization XIII captures Kairi, his childhood friend, and Sora allows himself to become consumed by darkness, creating a heartless and his nobody, Roxas, (anagram of Sora and an X, typical of all nobodies and their originals’ names) to save her.
King Mickey protects Sora and tries to stop Roxas (who is actually the 13th member of the organization) and the Organization from collecting all of these hearts and creating an unbalance in the world. In order to do so, Sora must use the Keyblade to free the hearts instead. Accompanied by Donald Duck and Goofy, they travel through the many worlds of Disney eliminating darkness from them.
The game is beautiful, the story is unlike any other game I’ve ever played and takes my place for Game with the Best Story. This series, along with other choice games are why I still haven’t given up on Square Enix yet… >_> haha
If I had to choose one game in the series with the best story, I’d have to pick Kingdom Hearts II. They were the first to really introduce Organization XIII and establish the main purpose of Kingdom Hearts.
JRPGs + Disney = WIN
Square Enix had its 1st Production Department Premiere today (and by today I mean Japan’s yesterday… our 5AM this morning). Damnit, I should’ve known so I could’ve stayed up to watch the live stream. They announced several games and showed new trailers for other games that are releasing soon.
- Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance announced for the Nintendo 3DS
- no word on KH III
- Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy for the PSP
- basically an announcement on the various characters that will be playable in this installation of the game
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the PS3 and XBOX 360
- to be released later this year (in Japan, at least)
- Final Fantasy 0-Shiki [Japanese name] (previously known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII)
- to be released in Japan this summer
- Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the PS3
- uhh… more trailers!
This is my current wallpaper! KHII =]
Sora and Kairi - Kingdom Hearts series
These two probably combine to become the greatest teen couple in gaming. The entire series is about Sora giving his heart up to save Kairi and then in the end, Kairi gives up her heart to save them both. *sniffle* So sweet.
Honestly though, the entire series is based on the strength of their love and it’s so sweet to play through the games knowing that. They’re both super adorable too.
I don’t have much to say about this, sorry haha I’m just totally having a fan girl moment over this series. I’ll save that for a later post though.
Oerba Yun Fang - Final Fantasy 13
(Isn’t she dreamy? *swoon*) [Warning: Spoilers to follow]
No other character really stood out to me except this one. I’d say I’m much more drawn to the story of a game, but I’ll save that one for a later day.
Fang is the kind of person that I’d idolize and want to be around all the time. She’s hella old from being a Cie’th for a long time and her l’cie mark is distorted which makes her special. She’s also probably the only character in this game that never annoyed me, which is saying a lot because every other character in this game annoyed me at one point or another. Damn you, character development.
She’s super hot and it’s hinted at that she and Vanille might have some romantic history behind them. (cue scene where the two are reunited and Fang looks up her skirt)
She wields the most badass weapon in the game: a lance/spear/staff combo. Staffs ftw!
These characters deserve honourable mentions though: (from left to right) Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII), Toad (Mario series), Axel (Kingdom Hearts II) and Tidus (Final Fantasy X)
